Another excellent Edublogs.org weblog
I have really enjoyed this class. It was very refreshing for me to take away so much from one class/training. I can say I learned 23 things and then some. Some of my favorites have been learning the use of the reader, setting up a blog and wiki, creting a podcast, and voice thread. I know that I will continue to implement what I have learned and get even better at everything. I am excited to share what I have learned and add it to my classroom curriculum.
This was super easy. I enjoyed learning how to do this. I can see that Zamar can be utilized in other ways to convert documents. This will come in handy. I think the parents would love to hear their kids on a podcast and would love the fact that they created a podcast. I know the kids would enjoy doing this. I can see how it takes more time to produce a quality podcast but certainly is not difficult. I am looking forward to doing this with my class.
I enjoyed spending time on classroom 2.0, There was alot to take in. It was organzied in to many categories for searching and I found this very helpful. I can see this is a use for so many people because there seems to be a constant dialog in many areas. I found an area in which they discussed how they use the smart board. I wanted to look at the links but since I don’t have smart board software on my home computer I emailed the links to my school email. I also learned about something called moodle for doing literature activities but this is software for purchase. I also learned that Microsoft had a free program for creating storyboards in to video. I am planning to download and review on my school computer. It appears very easy to use.
I think this is a good way to work on a document collaboratively. However, I do not think it meets my current needs. Copying and pasting was difficult as it changed the formatting of a document I tried to cut and paste. Also, at school documents are on a shared drive which we can all access. It also does not have all of the features I use in other Microsoft programs. I do see that using the google doc for this class is an effective way to keep track of the spreadsheet. If I needed to do something similar then I would consider using google docs.
I thought using pageflakes was fun. I can see using this in the classroom so that the kids can navigate things easier when completing computer or smartboard activities. I can also make it easily accessible for myself when wanting to access things quickly for a lesson. I also found many helpful pagecasts.
I have definitely gotten into the habit of checking my reader and I am able to do this quickly. Below are two recent things I liked:
I am very familiar with youtube. I try to use it in the classroom but with very little success as usually it is blocked or extremely slow. I had also heard there are not as many options. I enjoy using you tube for personal use. I know that teacher tube has been an option for a while but it was not until now that I have explored it. We have been told to use it as an alternative at school. I am anxious to see if it streams faster. I think if I can use you tube from home and embed it or forward it I will be able to utilize it more. I did find some interesting things in teacher tube. Since it is more educationally focused I think I will be able to find more specific topics for the classroom.

I enjoyed learning more about podcasts and how they can be utilized. I viewed many podcast sites. There were so many to choose from. I found some for the classroom and some for personal use. I found many cooking podcasts that I know I will enjoy listening to. I also found podcaststhat offered stories for children. As we know i-tunes has so much to offer. This is an obstacle – b/c it usually blocked at school and when its not you have to have separate libraries. I wish you could access your library from anywhere. I can see this enhancing various parts of the curriculum.
Library Thing was fun and interesting. I can see this easily bring implemented in the classroom for children and parents to access. This is also a good way of cataloging your own reading library (personal and professional). I think this is also helpful when you are looking for a book on a specific topic and need new sources. I could spend a lot of time here.
I have been good about checking the reader. I like it best for the educational sites. For my fun sites I like to go directly to the site to see all the photos and complete stories. When scrolling through I star anything I want to go back to later. This way I can through everything quicker and keep only what interests me. Construct a Word was great for make short vowel words. I also saw that Google added a creative commons search.
